Help Wanted: Bigfoot Researcher | Live Science

Add Bigfoot research to recession-proof industries. A website called All over Albany has alerted the internet to a job posting on Craigslist that – for a primate lover with an open mind and a four-wheel-drive vehicle (preferably) – could be the opportunity of a lifetime. .

The Craigslist post, seeking a research assistant, explains:

“Non-profit organization, located in Whitehall, NY, is a high-energy, team-oriented research entity that is involved in the tracking, documentation, and study of cryptozoological creatures, with a deep interest in the “study and research of bipedal primitive apes. We are looking for an experienced researcher with an in-depth understanding of cryptozoology, primatology, with a good background in scientific research and an interest in great apes.”

Some of the Research Assistant’s responsibilities will be to “investigate, document and interview people with reported Bigfoot sites [sic]”, and a suitable candidate should be prepared for “occasional trips to remote areas of the Adirondacks, including spending several nights in the wilderness, checking motion cameras, collecting hair and feces samples for lab analysis, among other related activities.

Although there is no objective scientific evidence supporting the idea that Bigfoot is real, more than a quarter of Americans think the wood monkey definitely or probably exists. This proportion may be higher around White Hall, NY, where reports of potential Bigfoot-related activity are frequent, including that of a wildlife expert who heard a distinct bang in the woods in November 2004, according to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.

Remuneration for the position of research assistant, said to be subsidized, will be based on experience. And it won’t be the first time real money has been poured into Sasquatch research.

A local Russian government has funded expeditions to track down that country’s snowy wildman mark, the Yeti.
